LAURA
I started my freelance journey during the pandemic, back in January 2021. It was actually my boyfriend’s idea for us to start an online business together (and I can’t tell you how grateful I am that he pushed me).
So there we were, in the car on a 9-hour drive from Munich back to Amsterdam on the 1st of January. For the entire journey, we listened to Dan Koe’s web design course, getting ready to launch our (spoiler: not-so-profitable) web design business.
That’s where it all began.
After diving into web design, I quickly realized it wasn’t exactly what I had imagined, then came my digital marketing agency. It was fine, but deep down, I knew it wasn’t my forever thing. I was craving something more flexible, something that would let me work from anywhere and tap into my creative side.
But here’s where things took a turn. A client asked me to step in front of the camera for their brand. At first, I wasn’t sure. Me? On camera? Talking about products? Totally new territory.
But the moment I hit record, something clicked. It felt right. I’d always had this little dream of acting, and suddenly, here I was, blending that dream with work. Sure, my first videos were far from perfect (cringe-worthy, if I’m honest), but I learned fast. Growth isn’t always pretty, right?
Without much of a plan, I jumped headfirst into UGC. Fiverr and Upwork became my playground. I was selling videos, learning on the go, and honestly, making a decent income pretty fast. Soon enough, I was working with bigger brands, setting up my own studio in my first office, and really starting to make a name for myself.
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth at first. I almost hit burnout at one point, and there was even a time when I got banned from Fiverr (and lost my 120+ 5 star reviews ugh). But hey, setbacks are just part of the journey, right? I pivoted, leaned into email marketing, landed some amazing brand deals, and kept moving forward.
Now, I’m all about sharing what I’ve learned and helping others find their own path in UGC. It’s been a wild ride, from web design to digital marketing to becoming a bit of a UGC whiz. And the best part? I’m here to help you do the same.
